Congratulations to Doug Rappe of Greater West Town Project for being named the Woodworking Machinery Industry Association’s Educator of the Year award for 2014! Doug’s award honors him for his excellence in providing industry education using a structured curriculum and hands-on practicum incorporating high technology machinery.

Doug has been with GWTP’s Woodworker’s Training Program since its inception in 1992, and has played a central role in the design of the training curriculum and development of industry partnerships.

When Rebuilding Exchange first opened on 47th Street, Doug helped get all of our shop tool donations from Chicago Public Schools. Over the years he has been a crucial technical adviser to RX Made. Most recently RX Made and GWTP have worked together on the production of our bottle openers. This partnership has helped provide transitional work for dozens of GWTP Woodworking Training participants.

Doug will be presented his award at the 2014 Woodworking Industry Conference in late April at the Wyndham Rio Mar Beach Resort in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. Please join us in congratulating Doug on this well-deserved accomplishment.
