Locally Sourced, Locally Designed, Locally Crafted.
RX Made is our line of simple and functional furniture constructed from reclaimed and locally-sourced materials. Drawing inspiration from salvaged materials, the RX Made line is designed in-house as well as through creative collaboration with partners in our Midwest design community. Each unique piece is then handcrafted on-site in our workshop. We strive to create durable, functional objects that are not only built to last, but also showcase the materials used in the construction.
RX Made is driven by a mission to create more local jobs, source materials from local businesses, and support the local art and design community.
RX Made also partners with Greater West Town Training Partnership to produce our RX Made reclaimed wood bottle openers, designed by local design firm, Strand. Greater West Town Training Partnership is a community-business partnership devoted to expanding employment opportunities to disadvantaged community residents, while simultaneously addressing the workforce development needs of Chicago area manufacturers and distributors. Our bottle openers are now available for purchase at our warehouse, online, at the Lincoln Park Whole Foods store.

RX Made uses careful consideration when sourcing materials. Motivated by a concern for the environment, RX Made was born from the idea of putting to use the many materials available within Rebuilding Exchange’s warehouse, and letting these materials shape our designs.
Since 2009, Rebuilding Exchange has been a leader in diverting usable materials from the waste stream. The goal of RX Made is to further promote the practices of sustainability by supporting local, responsible manufacturing. Some of the responsible businesses we are proud to source our materials from include:
- Horigan Urban Forest Products (Skokie, IL)
- Horween Leather Co. (Chicago, IL)
- Central Steel & Wire Company (Chicago, IL)
- Vermont Natural Coatings (Hardwick, VT)
