DONATE MATERIALS

Do you have building materials that you’d like to donate? To see if we can accept your materials, please take a look at our list of items we can and cannot accept and then please fill out the form below.

Once you’ve submitted the form, a Rebuilding Exchange team member will contact you within 3 business days, letting you know if we can accept the donation, and giving you any pick-up or drop-off information.

All materials scheduled for pick up must be uninstalled prior to our arrival and located on the ground floor.

Our logistics team reserves the right to refuse any donation.

Rebuilding Exchange Donate Materials

DONATION GUIDELINES

Rebuilding Exchange appreciates your generous consideration. Our limited floor space places constraints on what we can accept. We will do our best to work with you and offer flexibility, but we may not be able to accept your donation based on our capacity. The guidelines below are meant to serve as a general framework, but please contact info@rebuildingexchange.org with any questions!

FURNITURE

We accept:

  • Dressers

  • Tables: kitchen tables, end tables, bedside tables, etc.

  • Small desks

  • Wood, metal, and leather chairs

  • Bookshelves / Bakers Racks / Storage furniture

  • Display cabinets / buffets / armoires

  • Outdoor furniture

HOME ACCENTS/DECOR

We accept:

  • Antiques and vintage items

  • Mirrors 

  • Artwork

  • Vintage Signs

  • Houseplant Planters and pots

Cannot accept:

  • Broken items

  • Broken glass

  • Rugs

  • Curtains and textiles

LIGHTING

We accept:

  • Table & Floor Lamps
  • Sconces
  • Ceiling Lighting 
  • Chandeliers

Cannot accept:

  • Recessed, can, or track lighting Fluorescent light fixtures
  • Fixtures missing wiring 
  • Fixtures with bulbs

LUMBER, TRIM, and SIDING

We accept:

  • Lumber if it is denailed and at least 8 feet long

Cannot accept:

  • Lumber that is painted, dry rotted, or has a pest infestation
  • Trim or siding of any kind

FLOORING

  • Must donate a minimum of 100 square feet
  • All hardwood flooring must be denailed and bundled
  • Smaller quantities of hardwood flooring at staff discretion

APPLIANCES, FURNACES, HOT WATER HEATERS

We accept:

  • Clean, working appliances
  • Vintage appliances in reusable condition
  • Furnaces and hot water heaters less than 10 years old

DOORS

We accept:

  • Metal security door with complete frames

  • All solid wood panel doors

 

Cannot accept:

  • Bifold, hollow core, or solid slab doors

WINDOWS

We accept at staff discretion:

  • Double (thermal) pane vinyl, wood, and aluminum
  • Thermal pane with seals intact (broken seals or fogging not accepted)
  • Single pane wood sash windows
  • Fixed windows
  • Picture windows up to 32 sq. ft.
  • Vintage sashes

Cannot accept:

  • Windows without frames

TOOLS

We accept:

 

  • Working power tools with cords free of damage

  • Miscellaneous hardware – accepted at staff discretion

  • Hand tools

  • Woodworking and metalworking equipment

  • Gardening Tools and Decor

KITCHEN & BATHROOM CABINETS

We accept:

  • Bathroom vanities at staff discretion

  • Full and complete kitchen cabinet sets with all doors attached

  • Bathroom sinks including pedestal sinks at staff discretion

  • Particleboard cabinets must be in great, reusable condition

Can’t accept:

  • Damaged or poor condition

We CANNOT Accept the Following:

  • Carpet and carpet padding
  • Asbestos-containing materials: old drop ceiling tiles, floor tiles, fire-rated doors, some light fixtures, etc.
  • Non LED Light bulbs
  • Commercial fluorescent light fixtures
  • Paint
  • Headboards
  • Toxic or flammable products
  • Containers that may have held chemicals
  • Chemicals of any kind
  • Batteries
  • Oil tanks
  • Vinyl floor tiles
  • Beds or bed frames
  • Non-leather upholstered
  • Office partitions
