2-Day Spoon Carving EVANSTON

12/04/2023 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm CST

Learn carving while making a spoon you can use!

This is a 2-session class that meets on consecutive weeks for ages 14+*

*Parents must sign a liability waiver for students under 18 yrs.

December dates: Dec 4, 4-6pm & Dec 11, 4-6pm

Get back to basics and learn the centuries old, meditative art of spoon carving. You’ll start with a chunk of wood and turn it into a usable kitchen utensil and piece of functional art.

We’ll start with drawing the shape you want on a piece of wood then cutting the rough shape with a band saw and coping saw. You’ll refine your piece and carve out the middle with hand carving tools like hook knives, sloyd knives and gouges. We’ll cover carving safety and how to avoid cuts.

Scholarship available. Contact Indigo@rebuildingexchange.org
