CHICAGO TA Volunteer Authorization
09/14/2022 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm CDTFree
Do you like us? Like, like us like us? Then volunteer with us!
If you are interested in learning about woodworking while volunteering with amazing people that are passionate about reuse and educating our community, come to our TA Volunteer Authorization!
Why We Need You
We host hundreds of workshops every year with thousands of participants. All of our instructors need help running those workshops. We are a small but mighty team of staff and we are looking for more RX family members.
What to Expect
In this 2 hour orientation, you’ll receive a wood shop authorization and an overview of our TA program . We will start with an overview of who we are and what we do, how you can get or stay involved in workshops as a TA, and then we’ll have a shop authorization in which you will learn how to properly and safely use our wood shop, tools, and machines.
How You Can Help
We are looking for TA’s for our workshop classes. Come be a teacher’s assistant for any of our awesome workshops and help our instructors while also learning some woodworking skills yourself!
TAs help our instructors run our workshops. You will be assisting them in setting up before the workshop, gathering materials, helping students during the workshop, and cleaning up when the workshop is over. You are there to make the instructor’s job easier, as well as giving our students attention when the instructor cannot. You will not only learn woodworking skills, but teaching skills as well!
SAFETY DURING COVID
Your safety is our highest priority at Rebuilding Exchange, so we have put safety protocols in place for all of our in-person events to keep everyone safe. Those protocols are:
- Reduced event sizes.
- Everyone will be required to wear masks while attending in-person events (we do not have enough masks to provide to everyone, so you will be required to provide your own mask).
- You may be required to have their temperature taken (using a touchless thermometer) prior to the start of the event.
- Social distancing will be implemented when possible and appropriate.
- Everyone should follow recommended safety precautions, such as coughing into your elbow and refraining from touching their face.
