Get back to basics and learn the centuries old, meditative art of spoon carving. In one class you’ll take a chunk of wood and get well on your way to creating a usable kitchen utensil and piece of functional art.
We’ll start with drawing the shape you want on a piece of wood then cutting the rough shape with a band saw and coping saw. You’ll refine your piece and carve out the middle with hand carving tools like hook knives, sloyd knives and gouges. We’ll cover carving safety and how to make final refinements to your piece at home.
